The new Centaur range of battery chargers from Victron Energy have been designed to be a true world-wide product. Crucially, and unlike other products that state universal input, the Centaur range will maintain full output power within the entire specified range. The Centaur model will also work on 90-400VDC input, making it a perfect Charging DC-DC Converter in a Diesel Electric system. Other features include fully automatic three stage charge characteristic that ensures batteries are fully charged every time and three isolated charge outputs for multi battery configurations to suit the majority of typical installations.

The range spans 12V and 24V models from 16A through to 100A. The fact that the same product is suitable for any boat, regardless of the intended market or where the boat will be taken, is a great advantage to the boat builder and the boat owner in equal measure. The Blue Smart IP22 Charger is the new professional battery charger with built-in bluetooth. The Blue Smart IP22 Charger can be used on devices in your workshop and on motor vehicles, such as (classic) cars; motorbikes; boats and camper-vans.

Recovery of deeply-discharged ‘dead’ batteries
Unlike other brands, the Blue Smart IP22 Charger will attempt to recharge a deeply-discharged battery by force-feeding it with a low current. Normal charging will then be resumed as soon as there is sufficient voltage across the battery terminals.

Check the status of your battery remotely
The Blue Smart IP22 is equipped with built-in Bluetooth, so the status of the charger and the battery can be checked on a smartphone, tablet or laptop. All settings of the charger can be configured with the VictronConnect app.”

With up to 95% efficiency, the IP65 chargers generate up to four times less heat when compared to the industry standard. And once the battery is fully charged, power consumption reduces to 0,5 Watt, some five to ten times better than the industry standard.

Storage mode:

less corrosion of the positive plates Even the lower float charge voltage that follows the absorption period will cause grid corrosion. It is therefore essential to reduce the charge voltage even further when the battery remains connected to the charger during more than 48 hours.

Temperature compensated charging:

The optimal charge voltage of a lead-acid battery varies inversely with temperature. The Blue Power IP65 Charger measures ambient temperature during the test phase and compensates for temperature during the charge process. The temperature is measured again when the charger is in low current mode during float or storage. Special settings for a cold or hot environment are therefore not needed.

Li-ion battery mode:

The Blue Power IP65 Charger uses a specific charging algorithm for Li-ion (LiFePO₄) batteries, with automatic Li-ion under voltage protection reset.

Recovery function for fully discharged batteries:

Most reverse polarity protected chargers will not recognize, and therefore not recharge a battery which has been discharged to zero or nearly zero Volts. The Blue Power IP65 Charger however will attempt to recharge a fully discharged battery with low current and resume normal charging once sufficient voltage has developed across the battery terminals.
